However, the short answer to your question is that you can apply for a K-3 visa if you want (by sending the proper application to the United States), but the current processing time for K-3 applications is approximately 5 months. If the US Government completes processing of your I-130 before the K-3 processes, then the K-3 will be automatically closed and you will need to complete the I-130 process. Conversely, if the K-3 processes before the I-130, then you will attend an interview at the proper US Embassy or Consulate, and, if approved, it will allow you to enter the US at that time.
